According to the EDR report which was published in June - to maintain the status quo, Florida would need to invest almost $1.7 billion into critical infrastructure projects through 2040, to avoid a significant water supply shortage.

According to FIRE's 2025 College Free Speech Rankings, Florida State University ranks third with a score of 72.46, up from fifth place a year earlier. The University of Virginia was ranked first for free speech, while Michigan Technological University came in second.

One third of the money will be distributed to rural communities impacted by hurricanes Idalia and Debby. DeSantis said because the population is growing so rapidly in Florida, to get ahead of the growth, work is now being done to ensure Florida is able to accommodate Floridians, but also newcomers to the state.
