Laboratories are resource intensive spaces. They use ten times more energy and four times more water than office spaces. Laboratory purchasing alone makes up 20% of Imperial’s procurement carbon footprint. With over 1400 labs at Imperial, and our ambitious aims as an organisation to reach net zero for our estates by 2040 , it’s clear the actions of our research community will be crucial to success.

The Blueprint diversity mark aims to promote racial diversity in public relations and communications. Originally set up for communications agencies, the scheme expanded to include in-house teams, and Imperial College London’s Communications Division are the first to receive the mark in this category.

In September this year, Dr Wayne Mitchell and Professor Lesley Cohen stepped into the roles of Associate Provosts for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). Their appointment recognises the significant contributions they have already made to EDI at Imperial, and also their shared vision for embedding these values even deeper into the foundations of the institution.
