As we start the second half of the year, it’s time to do a little summer cleaning. The notes on my desk have piled up, so it is time to get cleaned up. The Guardians and the Reds spiced things up towards the race to June. I’m unsure if the “Francona Factor” drove the Reds to recently sweep the Guards. But Cincinnati seemed to play with a chip on its shoulder, sweeping Cleveland in the three-game series. Maybe it was me, but the Reds acted like every RBI hit sent them to playoffs.

For the third straight year, the Cleveland Cavaliers’ season ended in the second round. Questions about next season remain: Who will be on the roster? No matter what happens in the rest of the NBA playoffs, Game 1 of the Cleveland-Indiana series was an eye-opener for the Cavs and their fans. And Game 2 was nothing short of a dagger through their heart. It had been a very smooth season until now. The Cavs had a great start, good health, winning streaks, incredible comebacks, the best record in the Eastern Conference and a first-round series sweep against Miami that went better than anybody could have expected. It was over after two games.
