Barry Ferguson has insisted that this summer’s rebuild at Rangers is not “a project” as he responded to Real Madrid coach Davide Ancelotti being linked with the job and revealed he expected an update on his own position in the next few days. Ferguson took charge of the first team in February, replacing the sacked Philippe Clement on a short-term contract until the end of the season.

Derek McInnes is a step closer to becoming Hearts manager after the Tynecastle club agreed terms for the Kilmarnock boss to be released from his contract. McInnes emerged as Hearts’ top target for the vacant head coach position after the sackign of Neil Critchley. Talks between the clubs have been productive and McInnes’ representative is now able to discuss terms for the 53-year-old to take on the fifth job of his managerial career.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has been confirmed as the next head coach of the Brazil national football team. The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has announced the Italian, one of the most successful managers in the history of European club football, will take up the position from May 26. The 65-year-old, whose appointment had been widely anticipated, will become the first foreigner to lead the Selecao.
