Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has his sights set on history after his side moved another step closer to a sixth treble in nine years. A 5-0 Hampden win over St Johnstone set up a Scottish Gas Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen on May 24. Rodgers and Jock Stein have both completed two trebles, while Martin O’Neill, Neil Lennon and Ange Postecoglou have one each, and Celtic won three trophies in the season that Lennon replaced his compatriot in the job.

Celtic will play Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup final after thumping St Johnstone 5-0 in their last-four clash at Hampden. The length of the Premiership table separated the sides before kick-off and Celtic showed their class to make simple work of reaching the final and continuing their treble dream. St Johnstone and Celtic have named their starting line-ups for the Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden. The sides meet at the national stadium to decide who will meet Aberdeen in the showpiece final next month, after the Dons beat Hearts in extra-time on Saturday to book their place in the final two. For Celtic, the match is the latest step in their bid to win a domestic treble, having already secured the League Cup and being within touching distance of another Premiership title.

The veteran – who turns 34 in August – played the full 120 minutes as the Dons eventually overcame nine-man Hearts 2-1 after extra time in Saturday’s semi-final.

Under-pressure Neil Critchley is adamant there are “more than enough positive signs” that his Hearts side are moving in the right direction despite Saturday’s 2-1 extra-time defeat by Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup semi-final. The Jambos boss was “really proud” of the way his team played as they had Michael Steinwender sent off just before half-time and then lost Cammy Devlin to a second yellow card in the 26th minute of extra time, just before Dons substitute Oday Dabbagh scored the decisive goal.
