Troy University achieved remarkable success in its educator preparation programs during the 2022-2023 academic year, according to the Alabama State Department of Education’s annual Higher Education Report Card released late last fall. Among the most significant accomplishments is the University’s 100% first-attempt pass rate on the Educative Teacher Performance Assessment (edTPA) for both undergraduate and graduate students.

Troy University has announced the appointment of Elizabeth Ann Webb as the Communications Coordinator for the College of Education within the Office of University Relations. A native of Evergreen, Alabama, Webb earned her Bachelor of Science in Communications from Troy University in December 2024. During her time as a student, she was actively involved in several campus organizations, including Alpha Gamma Delta, Campus Outreach, and the Compass Club.

Dr. Keith Elder, President of Saint Xavier University, and Troy University Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr. will serve as the keynote speakers for the 2025 John Robert Lewis Leadership Conference on the campus of Troy University, Jan. 31-Feb. 1.

A new partnership that began this fall between Troy University, Troy City Schools and the city of Troy is providing scholarship funding and classroom experience for TROY education students while also providing additional help in the school system’s classrooms. Funding from the City of Troy will establish the Trojans Teaching Trojans Scholarship, which will assist qualified students who are pursuing a degree in education.

Troy University alumnus Kim Swan, a member of the Bermudan Parliament, was recently honored for his lifelong contributions to Bermuda’s golf legacy. Swan, who was named Most Valuable Player of TROY’s 1979 golf team, was honored with the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award by the Bermuda Tourism Authority in November. The award recognized Swan for his lifelong contributions to the sport of golf, spanning his trailblazing playing career and his impactful work in politics and on industry boards.
