Four views of the flowerCheck-out lines in grocery stores are lined with last-minute temptations on each side — dangerous! I’ve just picked up bread, vegetables, fish, blueberries (I’m in Canada and the blueberries are from Morocco?), and have successfully avoided the toffee-cappuccino gelato. But right there are little orchids for just $10. Perfect for a tabletop photo project! I went back to the larger group of orchids and spent another 10 minutes looking for the best one.

Usually when I try a unique project, I find there are all kinds of photography or lighting accessories but the one I need doesn’t exist or doesn’t quite work. Mounting a flash on a magic arm is one of the things that works half the time. In the photo below, the flash is mounted on a cold shoe screwed onto the end of a basic magic arm.

One of the prompts in the Full Frame 52 Week Challenge, was “Does This Look Right”? There are lots of ways to interpret that idea, but I was looking through my photos and saw a photo I had taken of a very unusual rock resting on the mud flats at low tide. The more things we notice, read, or photograph, even if they’re unrelated (perhaps especially if they’re unrelated!) the more bits and pieces your subconscious has to play with, until it sends an idea upstairs to you. So, what IS this? Is it real?
