Banbury’s MP Sean Woodcock has stepped in to support the town’s Sikh community after they spoke to him about difficulties progressing their planning application to use a commercial unit on Thorpe Close in Banbury as their place of worship. Their current Gurdwara on West Street has been used for over 30 years, but it no longer caters to their needs.

A second consultation on a planning application to extract more ironstone from land to the west of Wroxton village is about to begin. Earthline Limited already extracts minerals from Wroxton Fields Quarry but now wants to work in new areas of the site. This would provide a further 750,000 tonnes of ironstone, which would take approximately 5 years to extract. A public exhibition on the proposals took place in November 2023 and a planning application was submitted the following June.

Rachel Reeves is set to tear up Treasury rules as she announces billions of pounds of investment in public transport in the North and Midlands. The £15.6 billion package for mayoral authorities is expected to include funding to extend the metros in Tyne and Wear, Greater Manchester and the West Midlands, along with a renewed tram network in South Yorkshire and a new mass transit systems in West Yorkshire.
