Police have arrested a suspect on charges of DUI, speeding and reckless endangerment charges in connection with a high-speed December crash when a car flew off the road going through the Lebanon town square, causing damage that included nearby businesses.

Controversial former Florida GOP Congressman Matt Gaetz scheduled to speak Saturday in Lebanon. Matt Gaetz, the former Florida Republican congressman and President Donald Trump’s initial choice as U.S. attorney general despite an ethics investigation, is scheduled to speak June 7 in Lebanon. The time for the event is listed from 4-6 p.m., though a venue has not yet been officially announced. The Reagan Society is listed as the organizer.

The brown, slimy substance dripping into and sticking around the kitchen and dining areas of a Wilson County elementary school for months was an obvious indicator of a badly leaking roof. However, the district maintains the leak that left behind the grime at Mt. Juliet's W.A. Wright Elementary was not ignored, nor does it believe the leak became a contamination issue for students or staff during the school year.

Lebanon's city council has approved a new $20 monthly garbage removal fee, doing away with a previously included service for taxpayers. The ordinance passed on second and final reading June 3 and takes effect on July 1. The ordinance also includes the following stipulations:Residential customers would be charged $20 per month per cart. The commercial sanitation fee would be raised from $15 per month to $40.

Wilson County Emergency Management has opened a shelter when there is an active tornado watch or warning at First United Methodist Church, 415 W. Main, Lebanon. Users advised to when a watch is issued and before a warning. Wilson County under a watch until 9 p.m.
