Huron police changing shift timesHURON — Huron police commanders recently implemented a change regarding how long their officers work in a given shift. During a recent public meeting, city police Chief Terry Graham — who spearheaded this policy — informed council members of this tweak, which involves officers going to 12-hour work days. As of right now, those serving Huron police work eight-hour shifts.

New life for old school site? SANDUSKY — Two governing bodies in Sandusky are working on an agreement as it relates to the sale of a prominent city building. On Tuesday, Sandusky’s school board ratified a purchase agreement with Sandusky’s government for the former Osborne Elementary building, 920 Osborne St., and surrounding parcel. It’s contingent on final approval from city commission, which, come Monday, should vote on this matter.

Goofy Golf gets new ownersPERKINS TWP. — Nearly 40 years ago, when spouses Roger and Diane “Di” Andrews established an outdoor amusement center, they infused familiar Disney elements all over their Sandusky-area site. For instance, there’s a massive castle, complete with cascading waterfalls, towering over a miniature golf course. When lit up, in all of its neon glory, the marquee topping a royal palace-like structure resembles architecture suitable for Mickey Mouse’s home.

Clean Can comes to areaBERLIN HEIGHTS — Nathan Hansen strived to create a business that not only provided him with a new career but also would assist his hometown in maintaining a squeaky-clean image. Hansen, a Berlin Heights resident who grew up in the village, recently launched a company known as Clean Can. It operates from Berlin Heights but serves neighboring communities, such as Milan and Sandusky.
