Missoula’s federal court wrapped up sentencing Thursday for a ring of fraudsters that used bad checks to steal over $100,000 across multiple states. The group committed bank fraud in Missoula, Bozeman, Idaho and Wyoming in the summer of 2022. According to court documents and proceedings, they traveled from Texas to cash 34 bad checks at 30 different bank branches using fake IDs. The scheme pulled in a total of $141,822.

A Utah-based real estate developer who ignited controversy after making hateful comments in response to criticism of his plans to develop the old Missoulian building has pleaded not guilty to federal fraud charges alleging a set of schemes defrauding investors out of millions. Aaron Wagner made headlines in 2021 after buying the old Missoulian building on Higgins and announcing a redevelopment plan.

In high school, she worked as a counselor at a summer camp for children with disabilities, which opened her eyes that she was capable of both teaching people and taking care of them. She started her career as a teacher, graduating with her education degree from the University of Montana, but always knew she wanted to be a nurse. So she left education to pursue nursing, but doesn’t see the two as contradictory.
