Teachers at Franklin Elementary School in Yuba City are jazzed about the four new classrooms that are now ready on the school’s campus. Two of the new rooms are for kindergarteners, and the other two rooms are for transitional kindergarteners. Superintendent and principal Lisa Shelton said the spaces are very nice, and that Meehleis Modular Buildings Inc. did an amazing job with them. “They are just state of the art,” Shelton said.

Last week, South Lindhurst High School’s commencement ceremony featured many hugs. The meaningful ceremony was for both South Lindhurst High School’s north and south campuses. “Our school has two campuses to serve both sides of the Marysville Joint Unified School District,” according to part of a vision statement on the school’s website.

Celebrating the class of 2025, Marysville High School held its 152nd commencement ceremony on Friday. There was an air of anticipation as graduates made their way down the stands at the school’s stadium, preparing to listen to speakers, walk at the ceremony, and say their farewells to the school as graduating students. Addressing attendees, Principal Alicia Wright welcomed the supporters at the ceremony and spoke about the graduating class.

Jeff and Bonnie Magill established the annual Margery Magill Memorial Scholarship in honor of their late daughter, Margery Magill. The scholarship helps 4-H and Future Farmers of America (FFA) members. Margery Magill was active in 4-H and the FFA, raising four guide dog puppies for the blind, as well as numerous market goats. She was involved in many civic and local activities and events.

Since early last week, volunteers have cleared more than 10 acres of underbrush at Richards Ranch in Oregon House for a fire mitigation project. Richards Ranch is a 6,500-acre private property that has an area with particularly heavy underbrush that borders a residential neighborhood. The clearance work at Richards Ranch continued until Monday, and that effort, done for the purpose of fire mitigation, was made possible because of GoFundMe donations.
