The pound was stable on Friday morning as investors digested a decisive Labour victory in the general election and unions said it was time to “repair and rebuild Britain”. Markets had widely priced in a Labour landslide and Keir Starmer’s key message that he would seek to restore stability, drive economic growth and take a fiscally responsible approach to government. The pound was up slightly against the dollar and the euro at almost $1.28 and €1.18 on Friday morning.
