LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville Metro Police Department data shows a significant drop in homicides and non-fatal shootings compared to this time last year, marking a hopeful trend in the city’s fight against gun violence. As of June, Louisville has recorded 43 homicides, a 37% decrease from the 68 homicides reported at the same point in 2024. Non-fatal shootings have also declined by about 30%, with 101 incidents reported so far this year compared to 140 last year.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The city of Louisville's newly-elected transportation director says safety concerns of the public are a priority for the city's Department of Transportation. Mayor Craig Greenberg announced the appointment this week of Bill Bell, who is the former executive director of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Office of Highway Safety. "People depend on transportation in their everyday lives," Bell said.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- University of Louisville baseball and the city will be in the national spotlight this weekend as the team hosts an NCAA Super Regional. Thursday was a busy day of practice for the Cardinals at Jim Patterson Stadium, as they prepare to host Miami for a best-of-three series beginning Friday at 3 p.m. on ESPN2. Game two is Saturday at 11 a.m. on ESPN. Game three will be Sunday, if necessary.

LA GRANGE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A popular family-run drive-in movie theater in Oldham County may soon relocate as plans develop for a data center to move onto the property. The Sauerbeck Family Drive-In, which has operated for nearly seven years off D.W. Griffith Lane in La Grange, is the new preferred location for the controversial tech project initially envisioned on Ky. 53. The site near I-71 spans 37 acres and is already zoned for industrial use.
