    Two people were taken to hospital and multiple others were treated after several passengers became ill on a BC Ferries vessel Saturday. BC Ferries confirms six people became ill in a stairwell, requiring medical attention from paramedics. RCMP officers also responded. A service notice posted to the BC Ferries website says the 1 p.m. sailing from Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen left 55 minutes behind schedule. According to the notice, other sailings are expected to be impacted.

    Delta Hospital's emergency room will be closed overnight Sunday, Fraser Health announced late afternoon, citing staffing challenges. This will be the second night in a row that the facility's ER is shuttered. "Emergency-trained nurses will be on-site and available to support walk-in patients needing basic first aid, assist with redirection of care, and transfer patients with urgent needs to a neighbouring hospital," Fraser Health said Saturday.

    The province's ombudsperson is launching an investigation into widespread complaints of children being excluded from B.C. schools. In a news release Tuesday, Jay Chalke and the Office of the Ombudsperson said they have received complaints from across the province about children, including those with disabilities, being excluded from school with little or no instruction. Chalke tells 1130 News Radio that he's heard a range of individual complaints and believes there's more to the story.
