Global markets have started to rally again after a tumultuous week in which President Trump's tariffs were implemented. Trump has paused tariffs for 90 days on all countries except China, which now faces a combined levy on imports of 125 per cent. The S&P 500 jumped 9.5 per cent after the news, with Asian and European markets following suit this morning. The FTSE 100 soared as much as 6 per cent on Thursday before settling to trade up 4 per cent by the afternoon.

Energy experts have warned that nearly half a million households could see their energy bill rise at the end of next month, if they don't take action soon. Uswitch has warned that 79 fixed 12-month energy tariffs will finish by the end of May, meaning 418,000 households will be out of contract. Unless they switch to a new fixed tariff, they will be automatically rolled onto their supplier's standard variable tariff which is set by the Ofgem price cap.
