(1) Examples include nirmatrelvir, which targets the main cysteine protease of SARS-CoV-2 and is used to treat COVID-19. (2) Likewise, boceprevir, and narlaprevir are covalent inhibitors of hepatitis C virus (HCV) NS3/4A serine protease and are effective in the treatment of chronic HCV infections.
