In Max Royal LLC v. Atieva, Inc., No. 23-16049, 2024 U.S. App. LEXIS 19910 (9th Cir. Aug. 8, 2024), the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit affirmed the dismissal of a securities class action brought by investors who purchased shares of the special purpose acquisition company Churchill Capital Corporation IV (“CCIV”) in early 2021 before it merged with Atieva, Inc. d/b/a Lucid Motors (“Lucid”) in July 2021.

BACKGROUND After being passed by both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on March 29, 2023 and April 3, 2023 respectively, the Competition (Amendment) Bill, 2023 received the President’s assent on April 11, 2023 to become the Competition (Amendment) Act, 2023 (“Amendment Act”). The Amendment Act proposes significant amendments to the Competition Act, 2002 (“Act”).

Australia and India’s Education Framework – What It Means for Stakeholders

The Government of India and the Government of Australia agreed on a “Mechanism for the Mutual Recognition of Qualifications” on March 2, 2023 (“Mechanism”). The Mechanism inter alia aims to increase mobility of students and job-seekers between India and Australia as well as minimize barriers to recognition of qualifications between the two countries. The scope of the Mechanism includes not only higher education, research and employment, but also skill education.
