In the second game of a weekend set, the No. 11 Vanderbilt Commodores fell to the Mississippi State Bulldogs, 7-4. Following a convincing victory on Friday night, the Commodores came out of the gates slowly on Saturday afternoon, falling behind 5-0 early on as the entire lineup looked sluggish. Carter Holton earned the start for Vanderbilt, but was pulled after surrendering five runs and six hits in five innings pitched.

There is no time to sit back and relax in today’s college basketball. While the offseason may allow some programs to recuperate, Mark Byington has been in go-mode since he arrived in the Music City in late March. Just one hour before Vanderbilt landed its seventh transfer commit, Byington took time out of his hectic schedule to eat lunch with members of The Hustler at the McGugin Dining Hall on Tuesday. Byington hasn’t had much time to acclimate to Nashville.

The Rock Hill, S.C. native and three-star recruit hit the ground running as a Commodore, seeing the field in 12 games during the 2019 season and being one of just five true freshmen to see action.

The unanimous first-team All-Ivy League selection has one year of eligibility remaining. 16 minutes ago Head coach Mark Byington and Vanderbilt landed their seventh commitment from the transfer portal on Tuesday, as Cornell transfer Chris Manon announced his decision to commit to Vanderbilt via Instagram. As a senior, Manon averaged 12.5 points, 4 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game en route to unanimous first-team All-Ivy League honors.
