1 INTRODUCTION Child poverty is a prominent and ubiquitous health issue. Globally, approximately 1.2 billion children are living in multidimensional poverty (UNICEF, 2020). The economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic have culminated in an increase of 120 million children living in poverty (Magill et al., 2018). Child poverty is alarmingly prevalent in many high-income countries and regions, including Hong Kong.
