Following the judgement issued by a French court today, Marine Le Pen, leader of the far-right Rassemblement National, has been sentenced to an immediate five year ban on running for political office, four years imprisonment (two years with an electronic tag, two years suspended), and a €100,000 fine.

A private workshop took place on 11 March 2025 in Washington DC, hosted by the Heritage Foundation, to discuss proposals by European right-wing lobby groups to dismantle the European Union and the European Court of Justice. The Heritage Foundation, authors of Project 2025 – which is seen by many as the blueprint for the policies being enacted by the current Trump administration – welcomed right-wing thinktanks and lobby groups from Hungary and Poland.

President Trump views war zones such as Ukraine and Gaza merely as economic opportunities untouched by the tragic human stories lived out daily by ordinary people. People who are just like us. There was a time when they too were safe in their homes, going to work, paying off mortgages and spending time with friends and family. Now their fate may well be determined by a distant political actor who sees their treasured homeland as nothing more than a real-estate opportunity.

While last week’s gatherings of the Alliance for Responsible Citizenship (ARC) and Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) were both conservative in nature, dual-attendee Nigel Farage looked more comfortable among the Americans. At ARC in London, which loftily describes itself as a “conversation to re-lay the foundations of our civilization”, Farage had to endure Jordan Peterson probing him for his views on monogamy and the sanctity of child-centered matrimony.
