Just over two miles from the border with Gaza, it’s a community collective with large white houses, green lawns amid the dust of southern Israel and gardens filled with fruit trees and flowers. Decorations were still up for the Jewish holiday. Now, the homes stand empty, desolate, many blackened and burnt out, most bullet-ridden. Testament to that day of horror.
