Für menschenunwürdige Arbeitsbedingungen entlang ihrer Lieferketten stehen auch deutsche und europäische Unternehmen in der Kritik – ob in Textilfabriken in Bangladesch oder Platin-Minen in Südafrika. Doch bisher sind die Lieferketten eines Produktes intransparent und menschenrechtliche Sorgfaltspflichten nicht verbindlich in der gesamten EU.

Die Europäische Kommission hat am Mittwoch (22. März) den letzten Teil einer Reihe von Vorschlägen zur Reduzierung von Produktabfällen vorgelegt. Dabei sollen mehr Anreize für Verbraucher geschaffen werden, ihre Produkte reparieren zu lassen, anstatt sie zu ersetzen, insbesondere nach Ablauf der gesetzlichen Gewährleistung. Der Vorschlag für eine Richtlinie über Vorschriften zur Förderung der Reparatur von Gütern zielt darauf ab, den europäischen Green Deal zu unterstützen.
