STIGMA and discrimination remain the most damaging barriers to the country's national HIV response, Health and Child Care Minister Douglas Mombeshora has said. Addressing journalists at a Zimbabwe National Network of People Living with HIV (ZNNP+) breakfast meeting in Harare this Thursday, Mombeshora said stigma discouraged vital actions meant to reduce the spread and treatment of HIV. The stigma index 2.0 has risen to 69.7% from 65% between 2018 and 2023.

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) legislator, Thokozani Khupe has demanded a ministerial statement from the Ministry of Finance on the disbursement of the US$38 million collected through the sugar tax for the procurement of cancer treatment equipment. On a point of national interest, Khupe who was diagnosed with cancer in 2011, told Speaker Jacob Mudenda that there are alarming cancer deaths countrywide and needed urgent attention from government.

A legislator this Tuesday called upon the Higher and Tertiary Education Minister (Fredrick Shava) to urgently deliver a ministerial statement on the strike to the National Assembly. On a point of interest, Mpopoma-Mzilikazi MP Charles Moyo requested through the Speaker, Jacob Mudenda, to have the crisis resolved.
