Carbon farming group Carbon Sync is looking to sign up growers in the catchments around Irwin and Mingenew, about 360 kilometres north of Perth in WA's Wheatbelt.

The brand head of a men's fashion label say customers still want Australian wool products, despite an industry slump. WA Police has announced a soft launch of strict gun laws. New laws will start on Monday but police will issue temporary licences of up to 90 days to allow gun owners to transition. Tough restrictions on rapid release guns will come into effect with owners urged to hand in firearms. There are 38 aircraft in WA to help fight bushfires, and four of them are ex-military Black Hawk helicopters. It takes special skills to pilot the Black Hawk but they are effective in battling a blaze. The aircraft are leased commercially and travel the globe between bushfire seasons. Fighting bushfires was not always done from the air, but today Western Australia has 38 aircraft on hand during the fire season.
