Múltiples experiencias traumáticas, particularmente en la infancia, pueden predecir y ser un factor de riesgo para el desarrollo de un trastorno de estrés postraumático complejo (cPTSD). Desafortunadamente, las personas con trastorno bipolar (TB) tienen más probabilidades de haber sufrido eventos traumáticos que la población general. En consecuencia, el cPTSD podría ser comórbido con TB, y esto puede afectar negativamente las manifestaciones psicopatológicas.
