Lexi Thompson is set to become just the seventh female to compete on the PGA Tour after accepting a sponsor's exemption to play in next week's Shriners Children's Open. Brittany Lincicome, Michelle Wie West, Suzy Whaley, Annika Sorenstam, Shirley Spork and Babe Didrikson Zaharias are the previous women to have participated in an event on the flagship men's tour.

TG4 is on the hunt to find Ireland's best choir in a brand new series, kicking off on Sunday 15 October. Curfá ('chorus')will see 18 choirs battle it out over ten weeks, in the hope of earning a spot in the grand final, where three choirs will compete for the top prize of €5,000 and the chance to sing on stage with country music star, Nathan Carter.

RTÉ has announced details of the ten new stories which have been shortlisted for the RTÉ Short Story Competition in honour of Francis MacManus 2023, from more than 1,700 entries. Set up in 1986 to honour writer and broadcaster Francis MacManus, the RTÉ Short Story Competition has been a critically important launch pad for new and emerging writers in Ireland.

Turkey have withdrawn from the bidding to host Euro 2028, according to reports, meaning the UK and Ireland are set to be ratified unopposed next Tuesday by UEFA. Turkey have teamed up with Italy to host the 2032 tournament following UEFA approval, meaning there is just a single bid now to host the 2028 edition. The UK and Ireland are set to be successful with no opposition.
