A Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) grant helped a New England brewery become energy independent, yet future funding for similar projects remains uncertain. Blasty Bough Brewing Company in Epson, New Hampshire secured a Rural Energy for America Program grant that enabled the brewery to install a 182-module, 87 kW ground-mount solar array that offsets more than 100% of their energy consumption.

Large-scale, long-duration energy storage (LDES) facilities such as pumped hydro sites will be critical to support the ideal amount of solar generation capacity in Spain, as calculated by Madrid-based campaign group Ecologists in Action. The environmental group has calculated the volume of clean energy generation capacity that would be required for a 100% renewables grid by 2030, using various scenarios.

It found that of the 32 new gigawatts of total solar capacity installed, 5.4 GW was distributed. ILRS defines distributed solar as residential, commercial and industrial (C&I) and community solar. Generally, distributed solar can be owned by individuals, small businesses and public entities.
Community solar developer secures 150 MW of domestic solar modules from ES Foundry

ES Foundry, a South Carolina manufacturer of crystalline solar cells and modules, signed a three-year, 150 MW supply agreement with a community solar developer. The modules are manufactured using the company’s own crystalline bifacial passivated emitter and rear contact (PERC) solar cells made in the same facility in Greenwood.
