    Met Éireann currently has a yellow weather warning for rain in place for much of the country. All of Leinster and Ulster (the UK Met office has issued a similar warning), as well as Waterford, Leitrim and Roscommon are under the warning. The yellow warning is in place for Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Leitrim, Roscommon and Sligo until 9pm on Thursday 12 June. It will expire at 6pm on Thursday for Leinster and Waterford.

These are Padraig Young, agricultural industry advocate; Nicola Martin, food marketing specialist and Liz Moynihan, education, development and leadership expert.     A fund of €10m has been announced by Government ministers for bio-based economy pilot programmes that would see farm and forestry biomass used to produce alternatives to fossil fuels. The project is seeking proposals that involve the use of renewable biomass from farming and forestry to produce alternative products that reduce the reliance on fossil fuels and enhance resource efficiency. Biomass, in a farming context, usually refers to animal waste such as slurry, as well as crops and grass.

    FridayMet Éireann has said that the spell of heavy rain and thundery downpours from Thursday will become confined to the north and east of the country on Friday. Elsewhere, there will be some sunny spells, but further outbreaks of rain and scattered thunderstorms will feed up across the country from the south. The forecaster has warned there is the risk of lightning, spot flooding and hail showers occurring where thunderstorms develop.
