Horry County is set to pay the city $6 million to buyout out their 30%. The Myrtle Beach City Council approved the first reading of two ordinances regarding the Pelican’s baseball ballpark lease. The first ordinance approved Tuesday includes a lease agreement with the Pelicans. It is the same 30-year agreement the city previously passed, but as full owners. The other ordinance focused on taking Horry County’s ownership share after the county dropped out.

The 'Safety Around Water' program involves a mobile pool that will travel to rural areas of the county to give free swim lessons to young children. Georgetown County Parks and Recreation is teaming up with the YMCA of Coastal Carolina for a new initiative.
