After the first destructive fire of the season in Oregon, people and groups in the Gorge are coming together, taking the first steps toward recovery. One of their first efforts involves using music to help the community heal from the Rowena Fire. This Friday, the C.J. Mickens Band will headline a summer concert to raise funds for emergency relief efforts, for families and individuals affected. Doors open at 5:30 PM at the Barge Way Club in the Dalles.

PORTLAND, Ore.– Oregon U.S. Senator Ron Wyden is proposing new national legislation targeting wildfire prevention. Senator Wyden says he’s getting support from both Democrats and Republicans for his national Prescribed Fire Act of 2025. “This is the major science driven bipartisan approach to preventing fire. And my sponsor is Senator Budd of North Carolina.”It’s an effort to prevent another season like 2024 when wildfires burned 8.9 million acres, one of the highest totals ever.
