    Magda Szubanski has revealed she in a private battle with stage four cancer that is “nasty” and “rare”. The much-loved Australian comedian confirmed the shocking diagnosis of Mantle Cell Lymphoma, a rare and fast-moving blood cancer, in a post to social media on Thursday. Szubanski, 64, described the cancer diagnosis as “serious” and confirmed she has begun “the Nordic protocol” … “one of the best treatments available” for the disease that was randomly picked up during a recent breast screen.

    Nine’s weekend sports presenter Roz Kelly has resigned from the network. Kelly’s resignation comes two months after she was overlooked for the role as sports presenter on the Today show. That job, which became vacant after Nine sacked Alex Cullen in January for accepting $50,000 from Adrian “Lambo Guy” Portelli, went instead to Nine rugby league sideline reporter Danika Mason. Kelly, this column hears, is without a job to go to.

    Anthony De Ceglie’s departure from Seven has improved the stocks of the broadcaster’s director of morning television Sarah Stinson. In a densely worded two-page press release issued by Seven on Thursday to belatedly confirm the departure of news boss De Ceglie and appointment of his replacement Ray Kuka – and choc-a-bloc full of glowing endorsements from CEO Jeff Howard and chairman Kerry Stokes concerning both – there appeared, in the last line, a tiny acknowledgment of Stinson.
