City beaches officially open for the season this weekend. Lifeguards will be watching the waters starting this Saturday. Beaches will be staffed every day through Sept. 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Swimming is not allowed if a lifeguard is not on duty. All 14 miles of city run beaches are free and open to the public. A new ad campaign is trying to keep swimmers safe in the water, and know what to do in the event of an emergency.
