The Agentica Project and Together AI have released DeepCoder-14B-Preview, an open source AI coding model based on Deepseek-R1-Distilled-Qwen-14B. The model achieves a 60.6% pass rate on LiveCodeBench, outperforming OpenAI's o1 model and matching the performance of o3-mini.
DeepCoder-14B-Preview is fine-tuned from the Deepseek model on a dataset of 24K coding problems using reinforcement learning (RL).

Anthropic released Claude Opus 4 and Sonnet 4, the newest versions of their Claude series of LLMs. Both models support extended thinking, tool use, and memory improvements, and Claude 4 Opus outperforms other LLMs on coding benchmarks.
Anthropic announced the release during their Code with Claude event. The Claude 4 models are "hybrid" models: they can give quick responses to questions or they can perform extended thinking.

Google DeepMind published a paper describing their AlphaEvolve coding agent. AlphaEvolve uses LLMs to discover and optimize algorithms across a range of domains, including hardware design, data center operations, and AI training.
AlphaEvolve uses an ensemble of LLMs, including both Gemini Flash and Gemini Pro, to generate and evolve programs that solve a user-defined problem; specifically, the user must specify an evaluation function that returns a set of scalar metrics.

Google released the Gemma 3 QAT family, quantized versions of their open-weight Gemma 3 language models. The models use Quantization-Aware Training (QAT) to maintain high accuracy when the weights are quantized from 16 to 4 bits.
All four Gemma 3 model sizes are now available in QAT versions: 1B, 4B, 12B, and 27B parameters. The quantized versions require as little as 25% of the VRAM needed by the 16 bit models.

Google released the Agent2Agent (A2A) Protocol, an open-source specification for building AI agents that can connect with other agents that support the protocol. Google has enlisted over 50 technology partners to contribute to A2A's development.
Google announced the release at the recent Google Cloud Next conference. A2A is billed as a "complement" to Anthropic's Model Context Protocol (MCP) and defines a client-server relationship between AI agents.
