Bushes like hydrangeas and rhododendrons require pruning. Once the flowers die back, you can clip off the dead flowers with scissors. This is important to do now because the plant is going to flower off of next year’s wood.

Big Flats, N.Y.(WETM) – Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a beekeeper? There’s a place right in the Twin Tiers that will teach you have to take care of a bee hive. The first step to being a beekeeper is putting on the suit. You wear a full jumpsuit, along with headgear that has a screen so you can see. You also have to wear thick gloves. Once you have your suit on, you’re ready to handle the bees. You use smoke to try to calm the bees.

You can mix and match different plants or vines to make some pretty combinations. You can add different plants that you buy from a garden center to a bit pot to add other colors or textures. Or, you can put a hanging basket plant in there.
