The Unity Township Bulldogs opened up their slate of District 31 games with a doubleheader against Hempfield East on Sunday, and despite the Bulldogs’ best efforts, Hempfield East took victories in both games. In game one, the Bulldogs worked ahead and held a slim lead for a couple of innings before late rallies by both teams saw them end up on the wrong side of a 4-3 game.

The Cardinals had one of their closest calls this season, but still managed to come up with a victory over the Red Sox during Sunday’s slate of Latrobe Little League games. It came all the way down to the wire, as the two sides remained tied in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Red Sox were the ones to open the scoring on Sunday, plating a pair of runs in the first inning.

The Derry Ukes came back from an early deficit to beat the Bardine’s Meat Links 7-6 during Saturday’s Latrobe-Derry Area Teener League slate. The Ukes got an offensive spark thanks to a home run from Mikey Monios and rallied to post seven runs over three innings to come back from deficits of 4-0 and 6-3 to take the win. The Ukes managed to take the win despite being outhit 9-5 by the Meat Links. Derry also committed more errors than Bardine’s, leading that statistic 5-4.

The Frontier Club Wagoneers got the better of the Nakles Sharks during Saturday’s Latrobe-Derry Area Teener League action, shutting out the Sharks 3-0 to hand them their first loss of the season. Tommy Rennie was the star for the Wagoneers in the victory. The St. Joe’s Owls kept their undefeated season going on Thursday, taking down the Cooperstown Vets 15-3 in four innings of Latrobe-Derry Area Teener League action. The Owls were excellent offensively in the victory, scoring 15 runs on nine hits from eight different players. Fletcher Wnek was the leader for St. Joe’s, going a perfect 2-2 with a home run, an RBI, a stolen base and three runs scored. kAm$E2CE:?8 @FE :?
