Burrell got revenge on the Ligonier Valley Rams on Tuesday, beating the Rams 7-2 a day after Ligonier Valley got a walk-off win over the Buccaneers. Despite the loss, the Rams actually finished with more hits than the Buccaneers, leading 8-7 in that category. Things started out well for the Rams, with leadoff hitter Jacob Petalino getting on base with a single.

There wasn’t much to separate the Greater Latrobe Wildcats and the Franklin Regional Panthers when they met each other on Monday afternoon. The Panthers pulled ahead early, but the Wildcats came back to tie the game, eventually going to extra innings. It took a full nine innings of baseball to produce a winner, but Jack Stynchula’s RBI single in the top of the ninth inning gave Greater Latrobe a lead they would never let go of as the Wildcats closed out a 4-2 win over the Panthers.

The Greater Latrobe Lady Wildcats put together an excellent defensive display on Monday against Kiski Area. In a 9-1 win for Greater Latrobe, the Lady Wildcats held the Lady Cavaliers to just two base runners and one hit over seven innings. A lot of Greater Latrobe’s defensive dominance can be credited to pitcher Mya McHugh, who displayed excellent control in the win. She allowed just one single, issued no walks and recorded 11 strikeouts.

The Derry Area Lady Trojans softball team picked up its fifth win in a row on Friday, with Haylee Myers helping lead the team to a 10-0 victory. Fresh off of winning a pitcher’s duel against Greensburg Salem earlier in the week, Myers delivered a six-inning shutout against Freeport Area, allowing just three hits while striking out 14 batters. At the plate, Myers was also a big part of the Lady Trojans’ win, going 3-4 with two home runs, five RBIs and two runs scored.

The Greater Latrobe Lady Wildcats picked up a clean win over McKeesport Area on Friday, limiting the Lady Tigers to just two hits in a 7-1 victory for Greater Latrobe. Pitcher Mya McHugh certainly had her part in that, tossing all seven innings in the win. McHugh only issued three walks, compared to 10 strikeouts, with McKeesport Area’s lone run being unearned.
