A tornado touched down in Northern California on Friday afternoon, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a warning to residents to seek shelter. "At 5:22 p.m. a confirmed tornado was located near Paynes Creek (Tehama County), or 11 miles southwest of Shingletown (Shasta County), moving northeast at 20 mph," the weather service said in its warning. "Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
