In the realm of Thinktank Conservatism, The Manhattan Institute is a major player and home to the prominent Christopher Rufo. On balance, Rufo is a mixed bag. Institutions like the Manhattan Institute give him a veneer of legitimacy and he is not a fool or shill like James Lindsay when it comes to political theory. However, he is squarely in that Neoconservative camp and will only go so far to the right when combatting liberalism.

The Carolina Hurricanes made a blockbuster three-way deal Friday night, sending Martin Necas, Jack Drury, a 2025 second-round pick and a 2026 fourth-round pick to Colorado, as well as a 2025 third-round pick to Chicago, in return for forwards Mikko Rantanen and Taylor Hall. This was easily the biggest trade of the NHL season thus far and provides the Hurricanes with the current sixth-best point scorer in the league, giving their offense a very solid boost.

In many ways, the rise of Donald Trump symbolizes the resurgence of paleoconservatism on the Right, one that takes after Pat Buchanan. While this tide is ongoing, many of the neoconservative gatekeepers have begun adopting paleoconservative talking points their faction previously canceled men for holding.

After months of speculation, the Hurricanes have finally agreed on an eight-year deal with center Seth Jarvis. A deal that also happens to have a particularly interesting structure. After an off-season rife with speculation, GM Eric Tulsky announced the Carolina Hurricanes and center Seth Jarvis have agreed on an eight-year, $63.2-million contract, with $29.2 million in signing bonuses. Jarvis, who was drafted 13th overall by Carolina in 2020, is now entering his fourth NHL season.
