1. IntroductionIn 2014, as the Founding Editor-in-Chief, I welcomed you to the first issue of a new open access MDPI journal, Bioengineering []. In my first editorial, I expressed my hope that Bioengineering would fulfill its potential to address the need for a journal in the broadly defined discipline of bioengineering that sat at the interface of the traditional disciplines of engineering in biology and biological engineering.
