Well, finally, after a long and mostly aggravating season for the New York Rangers, it will finally come to an end after sealing their fate against the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday. Now, all that’s left is to play two final games and put some of the young guys in key situations, and see how they perform. And perhaps most importantly for the future, these last couple of games will decide where the Rangers finish in the standings and could determine their draft positioning for the 2025 Draft.

At some point, an NHL owner needs to make a decision and ensure they have the right people in their hockey operations for the jobs. That’s the place the New York Rangers find themselves in a season that will likely end in catastrophe, just about a year after winning the Presidents’ Trophy. In fact, sports analysis website The Sports Daily estimated that the Rangers’ odds of qualifying for the postseason fell to around eight percent before Wednesday’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers.
