Really peeved to find stringent copyright declarations for buying digital scans from major archives for stuff that’s already in the public domain. I thought the law was now perfectly clear on this, that a mere reproduction cannot be copyrighted. Seems like false advertising!

One of the curious things about modern England is the 'doctrine of legibility', to which many conservation planners subscribe.
