Welcome to the table. Deadly Class, from Image Comics, was one of those books I went into completely unprepared. I was a fan of Wes Craig’s art style, and Rick Remender had impressed me with Black Science, so a story set in the late 1980s of teenage assassins seemed to be the kind of thing that would fit nicely in my non-superhero comic collection. Starting the series, I was immediately drawn in by the narrative that felt akin to a John Hughes film directed by Quentin Tarantino.

Summary Jumpscare is one of the only horror comics that feels it’s made for horror fans. From the titular characters ability to summon weapons from various horror movies to the bloated monsters mod boss named Grindhouse, to the crazed masked cult gang, Jumpscare is an adventure story told in a horror world and does a brilliant job page after page of never letting the reader forget that.
