FBAA's efforts making a positive difference, says Peter White By 29 Nov 2024 The latest FBAA monthly broker poll shows significant progress has been made in lowering the stress levels of mortgage brokers. The survey of 100 FBAA members brokers carried out in October in partnership with CoreData shows that just 38% of mortgage brokers were affected by stress in October – the lowest level since June and down from 60% in September.

Upper House inquiry a boost in industry's battle against tax By 26 Nov 2024 In a major breakthrough for the mortgage and finance industry, the NSW government has announced a parliamentary inquiry into the NSW Payroll Tax Act, a move welcomed by peak industry body, the MFAA. The inquiry will review the operation of the relevant contractor and employment agent provisions within the Act including relevant case law.

3% buffer too big a barrier for first home buyers By 26 Nov 2024 The MFAA is calling on APRA to provide more flexibility when it comes to the mortgage serviceability buffer, saying the 3% buffer is a barrier for borrowers, especially first home buyers and refinancers. The peak body for the mortgage and finance industry was reacting to the regulator’s decision on Monday to retain the serviceability buffer at 3%.
