Mumbai: Mumbai’s Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking is facing a major challenge as its bus fleet dwindles, sparking concerns among workers, activists, and commuters. According to the agreement between the BEST Workers' Union and the administration, the organization is mandated to maintain a fleet of 3,337 buses. However, the current fleet has shrunk to around 1,000 BEST-owned buses, with the total count, including wet-lease buses, falling below 3,000.

Mumbai: The Bombay High Court has accepted an assurance from Lulu International Shopping Malls Pvt. Ltd. that it will obtain a license from Phonographic Performance Limited (PPL) before using copyrighted sound recordings at events held on its premises. Justice Riyaz Chagla accepted the company’s assurance. PPL had filed a commercial suit against Lulu International Shopping Malls, alleging unauthorized use of its copyrighted songs at events since 2022 without paying the requisite license fees.

Mumbai: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested accused Panel Advocate of Indian Bank, Kolhapur (Maharashtra) for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 1.70 lakh from the complainant, agency officials said on Wednesday. The arrested accused has been identified as Vijay Patankar, Panel Advocate of Indian Bank, Kolhapur and resident of Ichalkaranji.

Mumbai: HDFC Bank has leased an eight-storey office tower in Navi Mumbai for 10 years, with total rental costs exceeding Rs 320 crore, marking one of the largest office deals this year. The tower, located in the Mindspace Airoli West commercial complex, covers over 400,000 square feet of office space, sources known to the deal said. The bank has entered into two lease agreements made through two separate contracts with Mindspace Business Parks REIT, backed by K Raheja Corp.
