TOKYO -- The Thai baht touched the upper 33 range against the dollar during Monday trading in Tokyo, its strongest since July 2023, on hopes of an economic boost from Thailand's digital wallet initiative. The initiative, advanced by former Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, was slated to provide 10,000 baht ($294) each in digital money to around 50 million Thais in the October-December quarter.

TOKYO -- The Malaysian ringgit climbed to its strongest against the dollar since April 2023 in Tokyo trading on Monday, supported by a solid economy, as weak U.S. economic data spurred selling of the greenback. The Southeast Asian country's currency at one point appreciated to the low 4.39 level against the dollar.

TOKYO -- Currency market volatility is back with a vengeance, fueled by uncertainty over the U.S. presidential election, and it is upsetting one of the most popular trades in the yen. The Japanese currency strengthened to around 155.30 to the dollar in Tokyo at one point Thursday, reaching a roughly one-month high. It had been trading in the upper 158 range the day before.
