A GUNMAN IN Minnesota has shot two Democratic state lawmakers today, killing one and her husband and wounding the other in what officials said were targeted attacks. Governor Tim Walz said the attack at the lawmakers’ homes in two towns near Minneapolis “appears to be a politically motivated assassination.”Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark were both shot and killed. THE DEATH TOLL from the Air India plane crash in the northern Indian city of Ahmedabad has risen to 279. The Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner issued a mayday call shortly before it crashed around lunchtime on Thursday, bursting into a fireball as it hit residential buildings. Today, a police source said that 279 bodies had been recovered from the crash site in Ahmedabad, one of the worst plane disasters of the 21st century.
