    A leading Italian mafia boss who escaped a Sardinian prison using bed sheets has been recaptured in France. Marco Raduano, who was on Europol's list of Europe's most wanted criminals, was arrested in Corsica, officials in France and Italy confirmed. He had been serving a 24-year-sentence for drug trafficking and other crimes, according to Europol. Raduano fled the high security jail in February last year using knotted bed sheets to scale down the walls.

    A ketamine stash worth tens of millions of euros has been uncovered by Dutch police in what it describes as the largest haul it has ever found. Two tonnes of the drug was discovered hidden in boxes in a shed in Googweg, Muiderberg, east of Amsterdam, following a tip-off, police say. A 55-year-old man, who was living on the premises, was arrested. Under Dutch laws, ketamine is not illegal, but it may not be traded or stored without registration.
