Essex is a commuter's paradise, with the county boasting stunning countryside views but also being within reach of England's capital. Thurrock, encapsulating a number of towns and villages including Corringham, Grays, Purfleet-on-Thames, Stanford-le-Hope and Tilbury, has seen a huge uptick in Londoners relocating in recent years. However, this notorious area on the Essex fringe doesn't have the best reputation.

Man who lived inside iron lung learned new way of breathing A man who lived inside an iron lung for more than 70 years learned a new way of breathing. This week, it was announced that Paul Alexander, who achieved fame across the world as the ‘man in the iron lung’, had died at the age of 78. Alexander had lived inside a 600lbs iron lung for seven decades after polio left him paralysed in 1952, when he was just six-years-old.
