Eyes focused on the horizon, Joseph Daniel is off in search of a specific type of treasure that washes up on the shoreline. Despite the cloudy day, he winds down the window, letting the salty ocean breeze flow into the car. He pulls up and opens the door, letting in a black housefly. While there's money to be made down at the nearby beach, Joseph doesn't appear to be in a rush, as he listens along to the car radio.

A Tasmanian theatre company says it is "deeply concerned" by allegations of misconduct involving former volunteer Danny Gibson. Encore Theatre Company is in the spotlight after it was alleged to have a "widespread culture of sexual harassment" towards young people. The amateur dramatic company was founded in 2008 and has produced more than 37 shows with large local casts in Launceston.

Child grooming and indecent assault are among a raft of allegations made against Launceston councillor Danny Gibson from information received by Tasmania's Justice Department. Documents obtained by the ABC show when undertaking a risk assessment of his Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) Registration, the department found, on the balance of probabilities, Cr Gibson posed an "unacceptable risk of harm to vulnerable persons," including children.

The former mayor and current councillor of Tasmania's second-largest city has resigned from his position on the Local Government Association of Tasmania (LGAT). City of Launceston Councillor Danny Gibson was elected as the northern representative on LGAT's General Management Committee in June 2021. Chief Executive Officer of LGAT, Dion Lester said Cr Gibson resigned from his role late last week for "personal reasons".
