Right atrial thrombus, although rare, is a cause of significant morbidity and mortality. While there is a paucity of paediatric data, right heart thrombi in adults are associated with an 80–100% mortality, mainly due to risk of pulmonary embolism. Reference Athappan, Sengodan, Chacko and Gandhi1 In children, over 90% of right atrial thrombus cases are associated with central venous catheters.
