According to the May Manufacturing ISM Report on Business, economic activity in the US manufacturing sector contracted for the third consecutive month. The May Manufacturing PMI registered 48.5 percent, 0.2 percentage points lower than the 48.7 percent recorded in April. Contraction in most of the indexes that measure demand and output have slowed, while inputs have started to weaken as noted below.

India’s Prime Minister flagged off the new D9 – 9000 HP electric locomotives at the Indian Railways’ factory in Dahod, Gujarat. Following the award to Siemens for the design, engineering, manufacturing and maintenance of 1,200 locomotives of 9000 horsepower (HP) electric locomotives, Siemens’ factories in Nashik, Aurangabad and Mumbai have been manufacturing critical components for this project, with final assembly, testing and commissioning performed at the Indian Railways’ factory in Dahod.
